1. Camping in the backyard
With a mini campsite in the backyard, it almost feels like a real vacation! Set up the tent together, have a cozy BBQ, and end the evening with a fire for roasting marshmallows. Did you know that sleeping outdoors is also very healthy? With a homemade welcome sign, weather forecast, and activity program, you make it even more fun and cozy. It will feel just like a real campsite! You might even invite some friends from school to stay over for a night.
2. Animal spotting in the neighborhood
Crawl through the bushes or climb a tree. What animals do you encounter here? Birds, insects, and maybe even a big spider. You can take photos of everything you come across with a camera or phone. Who knows, you might be the next Freek Vonk!
3. Water Games
Is it super hot? Then you're probably looking for something to cool off. This summer, the Olympics are happening, but you can organize your own water games. With games like bottle football, a slip and slide, water balloon fights, and sponge relay races, you'll have a sporty and refreshing day!
4. Picnic
Playing outside a lot makes you hungry. Look for the prettiest spot in the area where you can have a nice picnic. With a basket filled with sandwiches, fruit skewers, veggie snacks, homemade wraps, and delicious drinks, you can fill your tummy nicely. Maybe bring a football to play with in between.
5. Sidewalk chalk obstacle course
Get the box of sidewalk chalk from the shed and make your own obstacle course for scooters, bikes, or rollerblades with all the friends from the neighborhood. With some obstacles like a roundabout or intersection, you can train your balance and speed really well. If it doesn't rain, you'll enjoy your circuit for days.
